As both a military brat and retiree, I have a greater-than-average appreciation for the military lifestyle, and its hardships and rewards. My eclectic background of experience and education have uniquely positioned me to expertly advocate for those with whom I work.
Prior to my entry into tax, I was a Navy Officer, receiving my commission from Jacksonville University in 2007 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. After my initial service as first a P-3 pilot, I redesignated as a Human Resources Officer, where I earned Master’s degrees in Human Resource Management and later, Defense and Strategic Studies. My favorite and most meaningful tour was as the Commanding Officer of a Military Entrance Processing Station, focusing my efforts on removing barriers to success for those I led, and recognizing and rewarding them for their outstanding service.
Following my retirement from the Navy, I found a new passion in taxes and bookkeeping. My existing interests in real estate investing and the FIRE movement led me to specialize in real estate tax matters. After having worked for a real estate focused CPA for several years, I earned both the IRS’ Enrolled Agent (EA) and the Certified Real Estate Tax Strategist credentials. My virtual firm now offers services to a mix of military and non-military small business owners and real estate investors, across the spectrum of those aspiring, in the thick of, and exiting real estate, to help them realize the lowest amount of tax possible for their particular circumstances.
Taxes, especially in the areas of military matters and real estate, can be nuanced and complex. My greatest joy in this field is communicating the details of an individuals’ tax circumstances in a way that is meaningful and insightful to them, and using my unique knowledge to ensure all aspects of relevant tax law are being applied to their tax bottom line.
